If you want faster progress, keep a simple session diary. The point isn’t writing a novel—it’s building a record of what worked and why.
The 60‑second template
- Date/time
- Venue/swim
- Weather (wind, temp, pressure trend)
- Water (clarity, weed, depth, signs)
- Plan
- Bait (what/how much)
- Rigs/hookbaits
- Results
- Notes (repeat/change)
Example (short)
Signs: bubbles on the inside weed edge, one show at dusk.
Plan: fish the edge accurately; light bait until confirmed.
Result: one take at last light; noted to return with tighter baiting pattern.
